AZ-800 Practice Test: AD DS, Hybrid Management, Networking and Storage
Prepare for hybrid Windows Server administration across on-premises environments and Azure with scenario-based review and practical lab work.
This is a hybrid operations exam
AZ-800 expects several years of Windows Server experience. The role extends familiar administration into Azure-connected operations through technologies such as Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, Azure Arc, Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, Azure Update Manager, Microsoft Defender, and Azure IaaS virtual machines.
Basic Azure familiarity is helpful. If Azure services and governance are unfamiliar, the AZ-900 foundation practice test can help with terminology before you tackle hybrid scenarios.
Blueprint snapshot
Build a small hybrid lab
A useful lab does not need enterprise scale. It needs enough moving parts to expose dependencies:
- At least two Windows Server instances for domain-controller, DNS, replication, Group Policy, and role testing.
- A client or member server for authentication, policy, file access, and troubleshooting.
- An Azure subscription for VMs, networking, monitoring, policy, Arc-enabled management, and hybrid identity exercises.
- PowerShell scripts that create, inspect, modify, and verify resources rather than only using graphical tools.
High-value troubleshooting scenarios
Identity
Replication, FSMO roles, trusts, sites, service accounts, authentication, Entra Connect Sync, Cloud Sync, and Group Policy.
Infrastructure
VM deployment, containers, nested virtualization, networking, DNS, IP addressing, remote access, and Azure connectivity.
Data services
Storage Spaces, Azure Files, File Sync, DFS, migration, permissions, quotas, deduplication, and recovery planning.
Plan around the retirement date
Do not rush into an attempt solely because retirement is near. Check appointment availability, complete a realistic readiness review, and understand how the exam applies to the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification. If your timeline extends beyond September 2026, use Microsoft Learn to identify the current replacement path.
