Build Cloud-Native Applications

Professional Cloud Developer Practice Test

Strengthen full-lifecycle application judgment: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, integration, observability, security, databases, and generative AI APIs.

Design from requirements, not favorite services

A Professional Cloud Developer builds scalable, secure applications with Google-recommended tools and practices. Current role coverage includes cloud-native architecture, managed runtimes, containers, APIs, event-driven integration, next-generation databases, developer tooling, and generative AI capabilities.

Four workstreams

Design

Availability, scaling, state, data, caching, events, security, cost, reliability, and responsible AI.

Build and test

SDKs, local workflows, dependency control, unit and integration tests, emulators, APIs, and secure coding.

Deploy

Cloud Run, GKE, functions, VMs, artifacts, configuration, secrets, identity, rollout, and rollback.

Integrate

Pub/Sub, events, tasks, workflows, storage, databases, ML APIs, observability, and external systems.

Build one application three ways

Create a small API and deploy it to a serverless platform, a container platform, and a VM-based environment. Compare operational burden, scaling, deployment control, startup behavior, networking, identity, logging, cost, and failure recovery. The comparison builds the judgment needed for scenario questions.

Do not skip production concerns

  • Use workload identity and Secret Manager instead of embedding credentials.
  • Generate useful logs, metrics, and traces and connect them to service objectives.
  • Design idempotent event consumers and safe retries.
  • Test database access, connection management, schema change, and failure behavior.
  • Protect APIs and validate input, authentication, authorization, quotas, and abuse controls.
  • Evaluate generative-AI outputs for quality, grounding, safety, latency, privacy, and cost.

If pipelines and production reliability are your weak areas, continue with the Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer practice test.
